Miranda T Prism, through-the-lens CdS Exposure Meter operating instructions

When using a pre-set (non-auto) lens, ensure that the aperture is fully open before taking exposure readings by either preselection of the aperture number, or shutter speed value methods.

Shutter Speed Preselection

1) Turn the inner dial and align the figure that denotes the maximum aperture of the lens fitted with the speed of the film installed (e.g. f/1.9 aligned with 100 ASA). This may be done using either the silver on black ASA scale, or the yellow on black DIN scale, so long as the same colour scales are aligned.

2) Turn the outer dial to match the red Time indicator to the desired shutter speed value.

3) Sight the scene/subject through the camera viewfinder and press the button on the users left side of the prism housing. This activates the meter. When the button is released, the pointer needle locks in position.

4) Look at the pointer needle's position, read off the aperture number indicated by the adjacent scale, and set the lens aperture to match.

Aperture Preselection

1) Turn the inner dial and align the figure that denotes the maximum aperture of the lens fitted with the speed of the film installed.

2) Sight the scene/subject through the camera viewfinder and press the button on the users left side of the prism housing.

3) Look at the pointer needle's position and turn the outer dial to align the desired aperture number with the needle pointer.

4) Read off the shutter speed value number indicate by the red Time indicator on the opposite side of scale, and set the camera shutter speed to match.

Exposure Reading in Special Instances (e.g. when the lens f/number is indeterminable, such as while using bellows or extension tubes)

1) Turn the inner dial and align the red dot to the desired setting on the film speed scale.

2) Sight the scene/subject through the camera viewfinder and press the button on the users left side of the prism housing.

3) Turn the outer dial to align the red indicator on the aperture scale with the needle pointer.

4) Read off the shutter speed value number indicate by the red Time indicator on the opposite side of scale, and set the camera shutter speed to match.
